At the beginning of the month, I had my very first festival adventure at Wintermoon, in Mackay. It was incredible, & I’m officially in love with festivals forever. I experienced so many new things — late night jams around the fire, feathers in my hair, got attacked by possums, tripped over tent pegs, witnessed way too much armpit hair & became obsessed with Langos & Hot chilli. BUT, the highlight of the festival for me, was being offered my own show on the very last day. And for that opportunity I have to thank the beautiful Jenny, events organiser at Wintermoon festival. Benny (Ben McGregor) & I sat backstage the night before our show, & decided it would be fun to rearrange one of my old songs. So we chose ‘My Bestfriend’ — a song I wrote when I was twelve. We ended up finishing it that night and decided to add it to our set the next day! The show was awesome & I feel really honoured to have been on that stage. We had great feedback after the show & even got invited back for next year! YAHOO! And now for the story of this show! A Legend, by the name of Dan Lyons, invited me to perform at Noosa’s Food & Wine Festival this year. It was an amazing event & I am so thankful & lucky to have been involved.
