Visiting the Queensland area is a wonderful vacation experience. A good place to land in is Brisbane. You will be happy to begin your tour there because of the great rates on so many different things that you will find. Because so many people go to the are there are good prices on places to stay, cars for hire and even airfare specials.

You will not be disappointed in what Brisbane has to offer. It is after all the 3rd biggest city in Australia. You can enjoy some of the regular cultural events that happen regularly in the city if that is something that interests you. If you need a little more activity you can go to one of the parks that are nicely laid out and perfect for biking around or playing, depending on the park that you go to. Don’t forget about all of the killer food that you will find in some of the award winning restaurants.

Getting to that part of the world is no cheap trip, that is why you want to make sure and see all that you can while there. It would be in your best interest to get a rental car so that you can get around and see all there is. From Brisbane you will want to cruise on down the Gold Coast. It will satisfy your every touristy whim. Surfers paradise is an area that you don’t want to miss because you will meet people from all over the world there.

If those places wear you out with all of the business and excitement it might be time to head toward something more relaxing and hit the beaches at the Sunshine Coast. It is definitely a slower paced area there. The beaches will amaze and then you will be astounded by the rainforest greenery at the Tropical North. This seaside town is situated in the southern part of the Sunshine Coast, East Queensland, in Australia. It is an hour’s drive from the city of Brisbane, and 45 minutes from the Brisbane Airport. A 2005 census revealed that the town had a population of 88,500. Most the accommodation in Caloundra is located on beachfront.

Caloundra residents were extremely excited and proud when their town won the prestigious ‘Queensland’s Tidiest Town’ award. If you are planning to visit this part of the world to soak up the sun and sea, you will find some of Australia’s best beaches. Most of them are patrolled throughout the year.

Golden Beach is perfectly safe for children to swim because it is sheltered by Bribie Island. It’s also a popular site for boating, fishing, wind surfing and kite surfing. At low tide, you can almost reach the island on foot.

Bulcock Beach, with its piers and boardwalks, also provides ideal swimming conditions. This beach is also in the vicinity of Bribie Island. From here you can take an hour’s walk on a walking track that takes you along the scenic coastline to Moffat Beach.

You can have a refreshing dip at Moffat Beach even though it is not patrolled. This is a haven for surfers with its perfect wave breaks. The beach is surrounded by parks, apartments and residential houses. From here you can continue walking to Dicky Beach.

The main beach in Caloundra is Kings Beach. It is patrolled every day of the year and has picturesque picnic areas and lots of activities for children. Some 4,000 apartments are obtainable for rental on the beachfront. There’s a big swimming pool next to the sea which is fed by ocean water. This is a firm favorite with people of all ages.

Shelly Beach is not suitable for unsupervised swimming but it is definitely worth a visit. Rough, wild waves crash onto large jagged rocks making thunderous noises. At low tide the shoreline becomes a wonderland of rock pools. This is one beach in Caloundra were dogs are not banned.

A major hit with visitors is the Ettamogah Pub. This strangely built establishment looks as if it has come out of a comic magazine. In fact it was built in the style of cartoonist Ken Maynard who used to work for the now obsolete Australian Post Magazine. This Caloundra attraction enjoyed such popularity that there is now a chain of Ettamogah pubs across Australia.
